Why Video?
This week’s tip does
not deal with a particular golf shot or
swing fundamental. Instead, it deals with
the many reasons why everyone can benefit
from a golf lesson using a digital video
system. It not only helps the student
immensely, but it makes the golf professional
a better teacher. The V-One Digital Coaching
System from Interactive Frontiers that
we use in Brookfield and the AStar System
we use in
Southington give us countless tools to
help make you a better golfer.
At the start of a lesson,
we may tape you to analyze your swing
prior to any instruction, see what your
strengths and weaknesses may be, and to
provide a basis for comparison later.
During the lesson, we may tape your swing
to explain or confirm a point, to make
a comparison to a tour pro’s swing,
or to demonstrate a drill from our video
library. Towards the end of the lesson,
the video may be used to compare your
swing to swings made before the lesson,
to show improvements made during the lesson,
or to discuss areas that still need to
be worked on.
What you think you’re
doing and what you’re actually doing
may be 2 different things and video lets
you know exactly what’s going on
with your
swing. It provides the instructor with
an additional set of eyes and allows the
student to receive immediate visual feedback
without having to run
inside to pop the tape into a vcr. Also,
our slow motion and frame by frame tools
allow for more detailed scrutiny of swing
fundamentals, which saves time and helps
get more accomplished. If you want more
information regarding our video systems
and what they can do for you, give us
a call or pick up some literature on the
subject in our front lobby. Or better
yet, schedule a lesson today!
