Hitting Out of a Divot

You've just hit your drive 260 yards, right down the middle. However, when you reach your ball you discover you are in a divot.Don't complain about your bad break, it leads to negative swing thoughts. Simply do this:

Examine the lie and see where the divot is pointing. If your lie is deep in the divot, you must swing in the same direction the divot is pointing. Do not try to swing against the old divot if it is not pointing at your target. Play the ball slightly back in your stance to encourage a descending blow. Stay agressive through impact and drive the ball out. If you are in a sand filled divot you play the shot as though you were going to strike the equator (the middle of the ball). It should feel like a thin hit. Generally a divot is seldom bad enough to change your ability to hit the shot you want hit.
