Chipping
Tips
It is very important to
remember that the swing for a chip is
done by utilizing the shoulders and arms
only. Many beginning golfers feel that
they have to "flick" at the
ball in order to produce the desired results.
But nothing will work better
than a steady arm motion. During the swing,
remember to maintain your weight over
your front left and don't shift it to
the back foot. The backswing in a chip
should be somewhat short and have a controlled
acceleration through impact. Through impact,
make sure that the
handle leads the clubface and there is
no break in the wrists! And after impact,
find the spot where the ball was before
looking up. This will keep you focused
on keeping your eye on the ball and hitting
it where you want to!
