Hitting
from Fairway Bunkers
One shot that seems to give most golfers
problems is the fairway bunker shot.
Most players either take too much
sand and the ball goes a very short
distance or they hit the top of the
ball and it doesn’t get out
of the bunker. If it does get out,
it does not roll very far because
it probably hit the front face or
wall. This shot can be executed quite
easily with the proper set-up and
strategy.

We'd all like a set of brand name clubs custom fitted.
It'd be great to have the right length, lie angle,
shaft type and flex, grip size and more. No more
complaining that the clubs too long or the grip
doesn't feel right.
But who can afford that? YOU
CAN.
My wife and I were looking to replace her
set of clubs. We went into Golf Quest and not
only found a set we were interested in but were
able to try them out. Having the driving range
right there is great. We went back the following
week and bought a new set of irons for me.

Length: The goal here is to determine
a length at which the player can strike the ball
most consistently and allow for correct posture.
If you have a Tight Toe Hit, which means
that the club is making contact with the ball
at the end of the club face, a longer club will
be required. A Tight Heel Hit, which means that
the club is making contact with the ball at the
inner edge of the club face, indicates need for
a shorter club. Scattered Hits might indicate
that the club length is too long for the golfer
or the player is not accomplished enough to consistently
repeat his swing.
Lie Angle: The goal here is
to determine the lie angle which produces markings
at the center of the sole, meaning the club lays
even on the ground through contact. Heavy heel
marks indicate a club which is too upright, in
this case a flatter club will be required. Toe
heavy marks indicate a lie that is too flat for
the golfer. In this case a more upright club will
be required.
Shaft Type & Flex: The goal
here is to determine the shaft that produces the
most consistent ball flight. There are several
elements that provide possible solutions for trajectory
problems. If the trajectory is too low one might
need: Softer Flex, More Torque, Lower Flexpoint,
or a Lower Weight Shaft. If the trajectory is
too high one might need: Stiffer Flex, Less Torque,
Higher Flexpoint, Heavier Weight Shaft. Our PGA
golf professionals will balance these different
elements to find the right shaft type and flex
for you.
Grip Type & Size: The goal
here is to provide the golfer with a comfortable
grip in regard to texture and size. Your grip
will be measured here to determine the proper
grip size and our Pros will go over the different
material options for you.
There are more parameters to this fitting that
the Pro will go over with you and the whole process
will only take about 20-30 minutes.
A fee of $25 is charged for a video swing
analysis which is deducted from
the purchase price of the custom fitted irons.
